In April 2024, we released the next version of Performance Monitor for Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL and SAP Han databases. Changes added in release 2024.1 include:
Until now, authorization in Performance Monitor could only be done using Windows Active Directory. However, we have heard your requests, and have integrated Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) into our set of authorization methods, allowing even more freedom.
What does that mean? — From now on, you can choose between authorization through Windows Active Directory, Azure AD, or a combination of both methods. There is also a no authentication option available at all times, allowing any user to access the application.
The change also applies to how you log in to DBPLUS PERFORMANCE MONITOR. We have added a new login page and improved the logic related to user authorization.
The effects of transferring user authorization to the application are: improved process of tracking user logins (Audit Log functionality) and improved 'Timeout' functionality that works when user inactivity is detected in the application.
Another reason for the change was a problem reported by users using the FireFox browser, which manifested itself in a slower operation of the application. The change we have implemented removes this problem.
The latest DBPLUS PERFORMANCE MONITOR update introduces additional monitoring capabilities for the Version Store* area of TempDB, providing users with more detailed data on one of the key parts of the SQL Server environment.
Version Store is a key component for SQL Server instances that use the Isolation Snapshot engine. This is where previous versions of rows are stored during transactions — necessary for maintaining data integrity.
New in DBPLUS PERFORMANCE MONITOR is the possibility of detailed tracking, the occupancy of the Version Store (broken down into specific databases) and the availability of information about the session with deleted transactions, which are one of the reasons for the space occupied in the SQL instance.
Improved monitoring of the Version Store area allows a more accurate analysis of the increase in occupancy of Tempdb spaces in the monitored instance. In addition, we have implemented the function of monitoring sessions with open transactions, since it is open transactions that are one of the main reasons for the increased occupancy of the Version Store area.
As part of the new version, the mechanism for generating the report has been improved. The speed of generation, configuration possibilities and the content of the Anomaly report itself have been improved.
In the new version, users have at their disposal new parameters that allow more intuitive management of the content of the report. Thanks to this, they can now better control which data is to be included in the final document. Before you start generating the report, you can specify which of the detected anomalies to be considered critical, as well as set the level of detail and specify the number of queries related to the problem that will be included in the report.
The DBPLUS software is updated at least four times a year. Licensees and maintenance subscribers are provided with access to these updates at no additional charge. Each subsequent version, in addition to enriching the software with new functionalities, also increases the speed and fluidity of the application. The novelties, in turn, are carefully selected to support users as much as possible in their daily work, offering them modern tools and improvements that respond to current needs and challenges in data management.
The user documentation describes in an accessible way all the features available in the software
