Again we tinkered with DBPLUS PERFORMANCE MONITOR and this time, we've taken to wallpaper gaining control over users' elusive sessions with a feature that's as flexible as a chameleon in yoga classes—session grouping.
New functionality in Version 2024.2 allows you to flexibly group user sessions based on ten categories. This customizable session grouping enables administrators to view and analyze database sessions more effectively. The view can be divided into categories: “Machine”, “Program”, “Module”, “Action” or “Wait”. Each offers valuable insight into the current status and activities of the session.
To start your grouping adventure, just use the gear icon (#1 in the screenshot below). Gently tapping on the “+” sign allows the user to add columns that interest him.
This intuitive interface allows you to customize your session overview, without hassle or drama, ensuring that only relevant data is displayed.
A significant improvement in this release is the ability to monitor SQL queries in real time within grouped sessions. Through a keyhole to database operation, session grouping allows you to spy on SQL queries as they grow.
Users can select the sessions of interest and observe their status and the SQL statements executed at any given time. This real-time feature ensures that DBAs can instantly respond to changes and anomalies as soon as they occur. Not after they have made a significant impact.
The world of databases is not waiting for anyone. Therefore, you can automatically refresh the data overview at intervals that suit you. Or you can simply hit the refresh button whenever you feel like it. So everything will always be up to date, and you will always be up to date, without having to manually refresh.
